Lexus Reliability

You’d expect the executive offshoot of Toyota to deliver top notch build quality and Lexus generally doesn’t disappoint. The brand has built a sterling reputation for reliability over the years and recent surveys confirm that few manufacturers can beat Lexus when it comes to dependability.

Whichever survey or user feedback you look at Lexus performs impressively.  The 2019 Auto Express Driver Power survey ranks the Lexus NX as the most reliable car on the market and the CT isn’t far behind in 10th. Our own survey, which analysed 47,000 warranty policies over a two and half year period, is only marginally less positive, placing Lexus in 3th place out of 33 car manufacturers in terms of frequency of mechanical failure. It’s worth noting however that Lexus plummeted to 17th when cost of repair is factored in, as we did with our Overall Reliability score.

How reliable are the top Lexus models?

NX

As noted above, the Lexus NX was recently ranked the most reliable car on the market in the Auto Express Drive Power survey and this beefy executive SUV has attracted widespread praise for its bulletproof build quality. It may not be cheap but the NX repays owners with trusty service and dependable engineering.

CT

Like the NX, the Lexus CT has garnered near impeccable reliability feedback. Even in an otherwise middling review, What Car conceded that the CT – the cheapest Lexus on the market – offers exceptional reliability, indeed it was the top ranked car in the magazine’s reliability survey, achieving a flawless 100% score. That means none of the surveyed CT owners reported a single fault.
